Dear iLEAD Families,
I hope this email finds all of you safe and healthy. I am extremely proud to be a part of a school that is able to pull together as a community to support learners, families, and staff in this unprecedented time. The governor announced today that school closure will continue through May 1, 2020, and will be reevaluated at that time. We are in our third week of distance learning at this time, and we are continuing to develop plans for the extension of school closures.
iLEAD Spring Meadows will be on Spring Break as scheduled from Friday, April 10, 2020, through Friday, April 17, 2020. During the scheduled Spring Break, there will not be any class Zoom meetings and the building will be closed. Facilitators will be providing information for the transition to PowerSchool during the week of April 6, leading up to Spring Break. PowerSchool is a platform where learners can receive information, assignments, instructional materials, and communicate with their facilitators. Additionally, during the week of April 6, we will not have packet pickup times scheduled. Facilitators will be providing activities that learners can do without physical materials as well as options to review and catch up on tasks from the first three weeks of distance learning. Zoom meetings and facilitator support will continue as scheduled during the week of April 6, 2020. We will resume distance learning after Spring Break on Monday, April 20, 2020.
State Testing and Promotion
Gov. DeWine signed into law HB 197, which makes COVID-19-related changes in state testing and graduation for the 2019-2020 school year. Here are the main points of the legislation:
State and federal testing is waived.
The third-grade reading guarantee retention requirement is waived.
Schools are permitted to grant high school diplomas to students on track to graduate and for whom the principal determines that the student has successfully completed the curriculum.
The social-emotional well-being of our learners is at the forefront of our decision-making. Our school counselor, Ms. Lorena Munoz, will be accessible for all learners during these challenging times. You can reach her via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Ms. M is also participating in Zoom class meetings throughout the week. Ms. Eilis, our mental and behavioral health therapist at iLEAD through the TACKLE program, will also continue to support learners on her caseload and visit classes via Zoom throughout the week. She can be contacted at 419-377-0444 or email@example.com. Families not currently working with the TACKLE program can get connected by contacting the program manager, Stephanie Crawford, at 419-367-2870 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please continue to keep your family’s health and well-being as your top priority. We will get through this challenge together.
Ms. Sarah Hawley
School Director, iLEAD Spring Meadows
