As we see increased COVID cases in our community, we would like to share the Lucas County Health Department’s guidance documents that we are required to follow, as well as a few topics we feel important to clarify. Attached is the Back to School document, and the two flow charts you may want to pay close attention to are on pages three and four (see below). There is other important information included in the full document as well.
We wanted to clarify that if we have a confirmed positive COVID case on site, then both the Lucas County Health Department and iLEAD will contact families affected. We have had an incident arise in the last week in which we have made the decision to be overly cautious in order to keep our community safe. We wanted to assure you that if we had a confirmed positive case requiring the quarantine of any learners, a written notice will be sent home with all families making you aware of the confirmed positive case and whether your learner is required to quarantine. In order to be required to quarantine, your learner must have been in close contact (within 48 hours) of a person with symptoms or have tested positive for COVID. Under Board & Public Information on our website, you can find a COVID Report that is updated weekly showing the number of those quarantined and any positive cases.
Below are the definitions for quarantine and isolation for clarification:
Fourteen days is the length of time that anyone who has been in direct contact with someone who tests positive for the COVID-19 virus must quarantine, as symptoms can start anywhere from two to 14 days after exposure.
The quarantine period starts on the last day the person was known to have had contact with a person who tests positive. The quarantine may end only after 14 days if the individual was entirely symptom-free the whole time.
