We recently had a few cases of COVID-19. Please review the LCHD Nurse’s Algorithm for guidance on when you should keep your learner home, when to test, and how to monitor symptoms.
In addition to COVID, this is the season of a variety of illnesses. To ensure that all learners are able to stay healthy and in school as much as possible, keep you learner home if they are not feeling well. If your learner develops a fever or experiences vomiting or diarrhea, they must be symptom free without medication for 24 hours before returning to school. For example, if your child goes to bed with a fever, but it clears without medication by morning, they would stay home that day and return the following. If they go to bed at night with a fever but it clears by morning, they stay home that day to give 24 hours before returning to school.
We also ask that you support your child with practicing proper hand washing and covering their mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing. Washing their hands with warm water and soap while they sing the ABCs is a great way to practice hand washing. Teaching learners to cough and sneeze into their elbow helps keep hands clean and remember to wash their hands after coughing or sneezing will help stop the spread of germs.
